Malus toringo ‘Scarlett’ is a healthy ornamental crab apple. When the leaves sprout, they are dark red, after which they change to red-green. The rich pink blossom contrasts well with the emerging purple, deeply lobed leaves which turn to glossy dark green in the summer and then rich scarlet with purple tints in the autumn, very rare for a Malus. The persistent small purple fruits remain long after leaf fall.
