Cornus kousa var. chinensis has dark green leaves with a blue-green underside.
In autumn the leaves turn into yellow and red. The flowers are inconspicuous. But each flower is surrounded by 4 large, clear white bracts, making this tree a striking appearance in May/June.
The strawberry-like fruits are red.
